Public Education
Public Education is a cornerstone of fire and life safety. The Fire & Life Safety Division is commiteed to providing the community with accurate, practical information to help reduce fire risk and improve overall safety at home, work, and in public spaces.
Through education and outreach, we empower residents, business owners, and organizations to recognize hazards, make informed decisions, and take proactive steps to prevent emergencies before they occur. Our public education efforts are designed for all ages and include guidance on fire prevention, wildfire readiness, home safety, emergency preparedness, and injury prevention.
By working together as an informed and prepared community, we can reduce the risk of fires and other hazards, protect lives and property, and strengthen resilience throughout the Fire District.

Do you give fire extinguisher training?
Yes. Our Fire & Life Safety Division can assist in conducting limited trainings.
Do you install car seats for children?
Yes! Please fill out the request form here or call Christa Deckrow at 541-504-5016 to get an appointment scheduled. Also, check our website or Facebook page for scheduled walk-in clinics.
Who can help me with my smoke or CO alarm?
Redmond Fire & Rescue does not currently have a program to accomodate this. However, we are always willing to help, if needed. If you do not have a family member or friend that can help, you can call the non-emergency dispatch line at 541-693-6911. When there is a unit available, they will send someone out.
If the CO Alarms are going off and showing a CO reading/warning, have everyone leave the building and call 911. Some obvious signs of carbon monoxide poisoning are dizziness/lightheadedness, sleepiness/fatigue, and/or headaches.
Where can I get my fire extinguisher recharged?
Contact a private company for purchasing, inspecting, and recharging a fire extinguisher.
How do I dispose of my hazardous household waste?
In Deschutes County, residents can safely dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW) at designated facilities and events. Knott Landfill and Negus Transfer Center.
